Your Max Product Discount is an optional discount you can enter for a specific product, which will be the lowest price you will charge for an item once discounts from a promotion are applied. This discount will override your Maximum Allowed Discount so you can have more control over your bottom line.
Since the Maximum Allowed Discount specifies the maximum discount you will give all of your products during a promotion, MoreCommerce gives you the option to offer a Max Product Discount so you can set a pricing limit on certain products.
For instance, if your Maximum Allowed Discount was set to 40%, but you only wanted to discount one of your products by 20% at the most, you can set a specific discount for that product using the Max Product Discount.
When you set a Max Product Discount, the affected product will always sell between this calculated price and the regular price (the price at which your product would sell if no discounts were applied to it).
How to Add & Edit Your Max Product Discount
You can enter any percentage in a product’s “Max Product Discount” field.
Keep in mind that the Max Product Discount is not your landed cost. You should account for commission fees, ad spend and other costs you incur as you calculate this.
You can add your Max Product Discount (a) in your Merchant Toolkit by going to the “Price and Variations” section of any product. You can also check the box titled, "Always sell this product at this discount" (b) to lock in this specific discount percentage at all times, regardless of the current promotion.
Or you can perform a Bulk Edit. Here’s how you do that:
- Click “Bulk Edit” in the “Products” tab of your Merchant Toolkit.
- Download your Full Product File.
- Open your CSV file from your Dashboard once it’s ready.
- Enter Max Product Discounts for applicable products.
- Save the file.
- Re-upload it to MoreCommerce.
