Prior to the effective dates listed above, you should continue to collect and remit tax in these states if required. Additional states will likely be handled in the same manner in the future, so please check back on this article periodically for the latest updates.
Once MoreCommerce starts to collect tax for marketplace orders shipped to the above states, no action is required on your part, and there will be no charges or fees for MoreCommerce automatically calculating, collecting and remitting sales tax. This collection process will apply to all sales from our owned and operated marketplaces, whether the seller is located in or outside of the United States, but not those made through our 3rd party marketplace partners.
If you have opted to collect sales tax in one of the states listed above, your MoreCommerce setting for that state will be void and will no longer be used to calculate tax on the applicable marketplace orders. MoreCommerce’s responsibility to collect and remit in the state will override yours under these circumstances.
Please note no tax amounts will appear on your reports for the states that Morecommerce has a sales tax responsibility in. To confirm MoreCommerce, or one of our 3rd party marketplace partners, is responsible for collecting and remitting sales tax on the order level, refer to the Marketplace Tax Collection column on your Payment Reports (CSVs).
Merchants are not able to opt out of selling items into the states listed above or opt out of MoreCommerce automatically collecting sales tax.
