You can add new products and update existing products using a CSV, or comma separated values, file. These files contain field headers and the appropriate product info below each header.
CSV files uploaded to MoreCommerce must meet certain requirements. That’s why we offer 3 CSV files you can download, edit and upload so your product data is entered correctly.
1) The starter file: Use this file if you’re adding products for the first time. This file includes all supported fields and sample data that shows you how to enter your own product data. Do not include the sample data in your import.
2) The full product file: Use this file if you want to edit multiple existing products you at once. This file will contain all the products you currently have on the site and all data/fields associated with those products, where you can make appropriate changes.
3) The inventory management file: Use this file if you want to update your inventory counts for products you already have listed in bulk. This file contains all of your products, but only the SKU, Title, Quantity and Price fields for those items, so it’s really meant just for inventory count updates.
Access the files from the Bulk Add/Edit page. Once you download the appropriate CSV file, do not delete or rename any of the field headers. Doing so may cause errors.
Data field headers explained
Many of the field headers in our CSV files are self-explanatory. However, some have character limits or only accept certain values. See below.
Required fields
ItemID: Unique identifier of an item in your inventory (such as your SKU = stock keeping unit). No duplicates are allowed. Must remain the same in the data feed unless first edited through your merchant account UI. Maximum character limit is 100.
GroupItemID: Only used and required for variations. GroupItemID values must match the ItemID value of their parent. This tells our system which variations are related to which parent. Example:
Title: Enter the names of your products (140 characters max) under this heading. Do not use all caps or exclamation marks.
Description: Enter product descriptions under this heading. Be as detailed as possible and be sure to anticipate questions shoppers might have, such as "What's this made of?" or "What are the dimensions?". Do not use promotional, shipping or policies related language. Do not use all caps.
Quantity: Enter inventory levels (i.e. available quantity) for your products under this heading using numerals.
MoreCommerceCategory: Enter the appropriate category for your products from the Category Guide under this heading. Be sure to paste category names exactly as they appear in the guide. If you do not want an item published for sale you can set the category to: do-not-sell
Note: Products must be fully categorized to appear. Products that are not categorized will be saved as Drafts until they’re categorized.
Price: Enter the price for your products under this heading. Only enter numerals. Do not enter $.
GroundShippingPrice: Enter the shipping price you’ll charge for your products under this heading. If you'd like to offer tiered shipping to encourage shoppers to buy multiple items from you in one purchase, enter a rate under the "GroundShippingPriceWithAdditional" heading. Read more about tiered shipping here.
Note: Our CSV files contain fields for shipping prices (both base prices and prices for an additional item) for Alaska/ Hawaii and Puerto Rico. If you don't want to offer shipping to one of these regions, leave the field(s) blank. Entering “0” for a region will offer free shipping to that region.
GroundService: One of the following options must be used: STANDARD_GROUND, STANDARD_4_DAY_GROUND, STANDARD_3_DAY_GROUND, ECONOMY_GROUND, FREIGHT_GROUND or INTL_GROUND. Please use the one best suited for your shipping options.
MadeToOrder: Enter "yes" (without the quotes) to designate a product as custom or made to order. Enter "no" (without the quotes) to mark items as non-custom. Leaving the field blank will do the same. Only required for custom or made-to-order products.
CustomizationPrompt: Enter a message (up to 255 characters) under this heading if a product is customizable. For instance, if an item can feature the shopper's initials, your prompt might read "Enter your initials here. Limit 3 characters." If a product is not customizable, leave this field blank.
EstimatedShippingDays: This is only used for custom products. Enter the number of days it will take you to get products in the mail. Regardless of your shipping estimate, custom products must be delivered within 15 business days.
Note: Numbers you enter must be 10 or lower since you must ship orders within 10 business days. If you leave this field blank, your estimated shipping days will default to 7 business days.
Image1 through Image12: If images of your product already exist online—perhaps in another store or photo sharing site—and you want to use those images, enter the complete URLs for those images under these headings. When importing an item for the first time, at least one image URL is required. URL should start with http:// and end with a valid image file extension (.jpeg). Both parent and variation rows can contain image URLs. Variation-specific images are displayed when variation is selected.
Note: Images must be at least 500 by 500 pixels. A product may include 12 images, or 11 images and a video. It cannot include 12 images and a video. If you plan to add a video link, you must leave the Image12 field blank.
Weight: Enter the weight of your products (in pounds) under this heading. We require this to help us calculate return costs more accurately. Enter only the number, do not include the unit of measurement (lbs).
PublishStatus: Enter “published” (without the quotes) under this heading to make products live and visible in your store. Products for which this field is left blank may also be published if all other required fields are filled in (refer to the LiveStatus column), but the best practice is to enter “published” (without the quotes)" for any products you would like to ensure are published.
Enter “draft” (without the quotes) to add products to your account as Drafts. This means the products won’t be visible to shoppers. You can also enter “draft” to unpublish a product in your store. This is the only way to hide previously published listings. You cannot delete listings once they’ve been published.
Note: Only enter a "published" or "draft" in "parent" and "simple" item rows. Leave "child" rows blank.
LiveStatus: This will show you the publish status of your listings, either LIVE or NOT_LIVE, taking into account the PublishStatus and whether all other required fields are filled in. In order to modify this value for a product listing, you will need to update the PublishStatus valus as described above.

Custom product details
In addition to our supported fields listed above, we support up to 50 custom product detail fields. Examples of custom product detail fields are: Weight Capacity, Country of Origin, Product Materials and Product Type. Basically any product information not covered by our supported fields can be added by using custom product details.
If you'd like to provide this data to us to be displayed within your product listing, simply surround the header field name with < >, i.e. <Weight Capacity>, <Country of Origin>. This tells our system to use the data as custom product details.
Note that custom details fields are not included in your bulk export file and can only be deleted manually from your merchant account product edit page.
Data file size limits
Once your CSV file contains your product data, it’s ready to be imported. However, there are size limits for these files, and files cannot exceed 10,000 rows or 8 MB.
If your file is bigger than that, break it up into smaller CSV files, save each file and submit each one separately. When you do this, be sure each CSV file has the same field headers that appear on the original and that any products with variations aren't split between two files.
